Engineering drawings into corners and playing with the shape of walls becomes something of an architect’s task in itself. It’s basically about moving yourself into the position so to make it possible; you have to think in anti-gravity kind of terms; often having to draw upside down or with your opposite hand in order to get lines into difficult places. This was the task that faced Daniel van der Noon.

The concept behind the choices for each of these wall pieces spoke to the European co-operative network of dentists in which this dentist surgery belongs; the broader family if you will. It was decided to incorporate buildings and cityscapes from Oslo, London, Paris, Malmo and Copenhagen itself in this project. It also provided a means of way-finding for patients to find their way around, so the receptionist could quite simply point out that they were to go to the room just left of the Eiffel Tower for their appointment, for instance. Made using acrylic markers, protective matt varnish.
